The exhibition “ To live for others ” presents a set of histories of dedication to others, lived in very difficult conditions and in different points of the world, by the Sisters Missionárias Dominicanas of the Rosary

It is deeply human histories, which now happen knowing to the inhabitants of the great cities, moving them for the humane causes.

It the question is an exhibition that is not closed in rooms, but before it intervenes in the life of every day, through the shop windows of a chain of shops in places of intense traffic.

It summarizes experiences and existences of the Sisters Missionárias Dominicanas of the Rosary who, spread a little by everyone, devote themselves to provide a better life to a great deal of the persons victims of exclusion.

More two tens histories than here are counted in the first person go from Lisbon to Macao, crossing the Philippines or Mozambique, between many people more countries, accompanied by photographies.

In each shop it will be possible to find two to whose three reports of solidarity it consecrates his existence to help the neediest.

The exhibition reflects examples of solidarity and of social responsibility, which constitute a reference of attention and share for with what more they need, and alerts the one who passes for the humane necessities of our world.

Established on 1918, on the Perú, with communities in the South America, Europe, Africa and Asia, the congregation of the Sisters Missionárias Dominicanas of the Rosary is in Portugal there are several decades, with the objective to be where more they need his help. The community promotes better conditions of life, help to the development of new opportunities, defend the human rights, and it provides education and health, between other relevant aspects of the human life.

The loyalty to these objectives leads the Sisters Missionárias Dominicanas of the Rosary to live in situations for very difficult times, with danger for the life itself.

Many people have been the Sisters of the Congregation who, in environment of war, have been suffering the prison, the torture, the isolation or the hunger – four came losing the life in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, in 1964.

In the name of these histories of courage and social responsibility, the exhibition, which is supported in more than two tens concrete reports, goes in the sense of affirming like an example and a stimulus for a personal more complete and made rich life.

Between the projects of the Sisters Missionárias Dominicanas of the Rosary revealed in the exhibition “ To live for others ”, it assumes particular relief of the Social Centre of the District 6 of May, in the Doors of Benfica

The project aims to respond to the necessities, motivations and longings of the different age groups represented in the resident communities in the district of intervention, and develops actions of Education for Valencies – Creche, Pre-school, Activities of Free Times – and a spacious Project of Communitarian Action.

The publication of the book “ From Another Side of the Line ” was offered, generously and totally, by the authors, donors and collaborators of the work for the financing of the Stock Exchanges of Study “ A Step Pará Another side ”, a basic instrument of support to the formation of cultural and technical level of the population of the District 6 of May.

Thanks to the work, dedication, volunteers and money raised by the wrapped ones, the work zero was published with difficulty.

The objective of the project crosses to hundred per cent with it of the promoters of the publication of the book, which is, precisely, it of letting know the “ positive side ” of this population. From there that the book is present in the exhibition “ To live for others ”.

The Sisters are going to apply and to destine all the profits that are come to get by the sale of the book in the project of the Stock Exchanges of Study. The book of photographies of Rosa Reis, with design of Henry Cayatte and texts of several writers, costs 25,00€ and be going to be sold in the Shops "Loja Viva" during the exhibition.
